The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has begun harmonising plans for a nationwide grassroots mobilisation and coordination initiative designed to bring the campaign activities of its candidates under a common framework ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The proposed Grassroots Victory Initiative (GVI) is expected to complement the party’s proposed Presidential Campaign Council by providing a platform for integrating campaign efforts across national, state and grassroots structures.
The initiative seeks to address the challenge of fragmented campaign activities by establishing a coordinated system through which candidates at different levels can contribute to a common national campaign objective.
Under the proposal, the GVI would also establish an election-day intelligence network to monitor voting and result-collation processes, with the stated aim of promoting transparency, documenting reported irregularities and ensuring that votes are accurately reflected in final results.
Receiving the team behind the initiative at his home in Kaduna, Hon. Isa Ashiru Kudan, ADC governorship candidate in Kaduna State, expressed support for the proposal, describing its coordination and monitoring objectives as relevant to the party’s preparations for the elections.
Kudan identified vote buying and alleged irregularities during result collation as electoral concerns that would require effective monitoring and timely reporting. The proposed initiative is expected to provide an organisational framework for gathering field information and escalating reported concerns through established channels.
Earlier, Prof. Shehu Ahmad Jada, Director of Stakeholder Engagements to ADC presidential candidate Waziri Abubakar Atiku, introduced the team responsible for developing the GVI concept.
Jada said the proposal was the product of several months of work and multiple reviews aimed at developing a practical and implementable strategy for coordinating the party’s campaign activities.
The team comprises Dr. Dahiru Ali, Hon. Mohammed M. Yusuf, Engr. Chike Ozohili and Abdurazaq Adamu, under the leadership of Dr. Amin Abdulrahaman Anas.
The initiative forms part of a broader organisational approach outlined in the proposed Atiku Abubakar Ambassadors (Triple A) national coordination framework. The framework envisages a structured network linking national leadership with the six geopolitical zones, states, senatorial districts, local government areas, wards and polling units.
It also proposes a central reporting system and digital dashboard to facilitate communication, volunteer registration, activity reporting and the escalation of operational issues.
The broader framework places emphasis on clearly defined responsibilities, accountability, disciplined communication and grassroots representation. Its proposed implementation would involve establishing coordination structures, defining reporting procedures and registering grassroots representatives.
If effectively implemented, the initiative could provide a mechanism for improving coordination among the party’s candidates and strengthening the flow of information between campaign leadership and grassroots structures.
The proposal’s practical impact, however, will depend on the establishment of clear operational responsibilities, effective coordination across the country and compliance with applicable electoral laws.
