The Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) has secured a three-year, $7.5 million sponsorship deal with EUROMATCH in a move expected to strengthen the commercial profile of Nigeria’s top-flight football competition.

Under the agreement, EUROMATCH will pay $2.5 million per season for three seasons, bringing the total value of the deal to $7.5 million, equivalent to about N10.5 billion based on the exchange rate announced at the unveiling.

NPFL Chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye, announced the deal on Wednesday in Abuja during the official unveiling of EUROMATCH as the league’s new sponsor.

Elegbeleye described the partnership as a major milestone for the NPFL, saying the league had continued to record progress in key areas, particularly match attendance.

“The amount involved in the three-year sponsorship deal is $2.5 million per season.

“So, for the three seasons they will be sponsoring us, we will get a total of $7.5 million from our sponsors,” he said.

According to him, the league is no longer struggling to attract spectators to stadiums, with large crowds increasingly turning up for NPFL matches.

“We now have massive spectators coming out to watch our matches. We are no longer struggling to get spectators to the stadium,” Elegbeleye said.

He added that the growing attendance had created a new challenge for the league administration — effectively managing the increasing number of fans at match venues.

“We are rather trying to manage the crowd,” he said.

The sponsorship unveiling was attended by several prominent figures in Nigerian football, including Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Ibrahim Gusau.

Former Super Eagles stars Austin Eguavoen, Daniel Amokachi, Samson Siasia and Brown Ideye were also present, alongside Davidson Owumi.

Other dignitaries at the event included National Orientation Agency Director-General, Lanre Onilu, and Presidential Special Adviser on Communication, Sunday Dare.

The partnership gives the NPFL a significant commercial boost at a time when the league is seeking to improve its visibility, fan engagement and financial sustainability.

With EUROMATCH committing $2.5 million annually, the agreement could also provide the league with greater financial stability to consolidate recent gains in attendance and strengthen the overall match-day experience for fans.
