Ribadu Denies El-Rufai’s Allegations, Says He Has No Time for Political Disputes

Ribadu Denies El-Rufai’s Allegations, Says He Has No Time for Political Disputes   The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has dismissed claims by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, that he is orchestrating a smear campaign against him.  El-Rufai had alleged that Ribadu, alongside Kaduna Governor Uba Sani and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), was working to damage his reputation ahead of the 2031 presidential election.   Responding through a statement on his official X account late Monday, Ribadu stated that he is not involved in any scheme against El-Rufai.  He added that he has never discussed any intention to contest in 2031, as his focus remains on his duties under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.   Ribadu also clarified that he has always maintained respect for El-Rufai and has never spoken negatively about him.  He urged the public to disregard the accusations, emphasizing that he is too occupied with his national responsibilities to engage in media battles.   El-Rufai’s remarks came during an interview with Arise TV, where he claimed Ribadu was leading an effort to tarnish his image.  He accused Ribadu of being the mastermind behind a campaign to discredit him, stating that his political opponents were finding it difficult to succeed in their plans.   Ribadu, however, refuted these claims, urging El-Rufai to allow him to focus on his work. He insisted that he does not interfere in El-Rufai’s affairs and expects the same in return.

Kaduna Assembly Okays El-Rufai’s Probe Over Abuse Of Office, Money Laundering

The Kaduna State House of Assembly’s ad hoc committee has submitted a damning report, exposing financial irregularities and corruption during the tenure of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai. The report was presented during plenary on Wednesday, by the chairman of the ad hoc committee, Henry Zacharia. The committee, tasked with investigating loans, grants, and project implementation from 2015 to 2023, revealed that most loans obtained during El-Rufai’s administration were not used for their intended purposes. Furthermore, due process was not followed in securing some of these loans, according to the Committee. The committee’s report accused former governor El-Rufai and his cabinet members of abuse of office, awarding contracts without due process, diverting public funds, and money laundering. The report also criticized the excessive borrowing during El-Rufai’s tenure, which has plunged Kaduna State into heavy debt. The committee recommended the investigation and prosecution of El-Rufai and other indicted officials by security and anti-corruption agencies. Additionally, the report called for the immediate suspension of the Kaduna State Commissioner of Finance, Shizer Badda, and the chairman of the state universal basic education board. The committee also urged thorough investigations into key appointees from the last administration.

APC Chieftain Accuses El-rufai of Fueling Insecurity In Northern Nigeria

Yekini Nabena, the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has leveled serious allegations against Nasir El-rufai, the ex-governor of Kaduna state, claiming he’s behind the escalating insecurity in northern Nigeria. In an exclusive interview with the Daily Sun newspaper, Nabena pointed fingers directly at El-rufai, accusing him of exacerbating the security challenges plaguing the region. Nabena minced no words, stating, “He is among the people that caused problems for the APC and not only APC but also Nigeria. It is people like him that caused all the problems of insecurity we have in the northern part of the country.” He further hinted at El-rufai’s purported political ambitions, suggesting that the former governor’s discontent over not securing certain positions within the APC hierarchy might be a driving factor behind his actions. “I am waiting for the day he will leave the APC. I will remind him a lot of what he did in Kaduna, what he did in the country, what he did in the party and what he did during our party primaries,” Nabena stated firmly. As tensions rise within the party, Nabena vowed to pursue El-rufai should he formally resign from the APC, promising to expose his alleged misdeeds and confront him in the political arena. El-rufai has yet to respond to these damning accusations.
