Nigeria’s Under 19 Women’s Cricket team will face Pakistan and Scotland in the International Cricket Council (ICC) U19 Women’s World Cup Warm-Up matches.

In a statement by the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) on Sunday, the matches are designed by ICC to prepare teams ahead of the World Cup beginning on Saturday in Malaysia.

Nigeria, who qualified as Africa’s sole representative in October 2024, will face her Pakistani counterparts on Monday before meeting Scotland on Wednesday.

The World Cup officially kicks off on Saturday with Nigeria against Samoa in Group C, before meeting New Zealand two days later and South Africa on Jan. 22.

South Africa had gained automatic qualification to the tournament based on her ICC rankings.

Meanwhile, Uyi Akpata, the president of the NCF, said that the event was a milestone for the country and expressed optimism that the girls would not make light work of the World Cup moments.

“The girls have been at different camp sessions since they qualified in October, and they concluded one last weekend in India before heading finally to Malaysia.

“I believe these exposures will come together to enhance their performance,” Akpata noted.

Akpata also commended the National Sports Commission for their support in ensuring that the World Cup plan was a success.

The 16-nation tournament will run from Jan. 18 to Feb. 2, 2025.
