The party’s National Legal Adviser, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, gave the advice on Friday in Abuja, insisting that the party remained on solid legal ground and was confident of overturning the judgment.
Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday nullified the leadership of the ADC led by former Senate President, David Mark.
The court also invalidated decisions taken under the leadership, including the emergence of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate and other decisions relating to candidates for the 2027 elections.
Osunbor argued that the judgment contradicted three earlier Federal High Court decisions which had upheld the Mark-led leadership, noting that none of the previous rulings had been appealed.
He said the party was considering an appeal and an application for a stay of execution pending the determination of the matter by the Court of Appeal.
The legal adviser urged party members not to panic or abandon their political engagements over uncertainties surrounding their tickets.
“We stand on solid ground. We know that we have survived other intrigues thrown our way, including other acts of mischief.
“They have not deterred us, and they will not deter us,” he said.
Osunbor alleged that the legal challenges were designed to discourage Nigerians from joining the party and weaken its preparations ahead of the 2027 elections.
He, however, expressed confidence that the ADC would overcome the challenges and provide Nigerians with an alternative political platform anchored on good governance, accountability, security and citizens’ welfare.
On electoral integrity, he called for an independent group of credible professionals to work with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to strengthen the credibility of the electoral process.
He said the proposal followed concerns over alleged artificial intelligence-generated photographs in the voters’ register.
According to him, the group should assist in sanitising the register and independently monitor INEC’s Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
Osunbor also urged the United Nations to closely monitor developments in Nigeria’s political environment to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
He maintained that the court judgment should strengthen, rather than weaken, members’ commitment to the party.
