Enugu, Sept. 22, 2026 — In the twilight of his first term in office, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has approved the appointment of 101 new aides, including Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants, expanding the administrative structure of his government ahead of the 2027 transition.
The appointments, which took effect immediately, comprise seven Special Advisers, six Senior Special Assistants and 88 Special Assistants.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, announced the appointments in a statement on Monday.
The newly appointed Special Advisers include Dr Fidelis Odo, Inter-Governmental Affairs and Coordination; Augustine Okoli, Policy Affairs and Analysis; Pedro Nwankwo, Stakeholders Relations and Community Affairs; Chimezie Nkwuo, Economic Development; Vitalis Okonkwo, Grassroots Coordination; Peter Omeje, Commerce and Business Development; and Sam Nwagu, Conflict Resolution and Mediation.
The Senior Special Assistants include Rachael Okonkwo, Film and Creative Industry Development; Okey Ude, Inter-Party and Mobilisation; Chinedu Chukwunwike, Party Monitoring; Peter Ogbe, Legal and Regulatory Compliance; Chinedu Ozoeluba, Boundary and Land Dispute Resolution; and Frank Udemezue, Small and Medium Enterprise Development.
The 88 Special Assistants will support government activities in areas including forest protection, market sanitation, health facility maintenance, environmental protection, community development, youth engagement, women mobilisation, public communication, infrastructure monitoring, rural development, technology and innovation.
The appointments are expected to strengthen government coordination and engagement with communities and stakeholder groups across the state as the administration enters the later phase of its first term.
