Kwankwaso Under Attack Over Visit To Alex Otti

The internal rift within the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has intensified following a recent visit by its former presidential candidate, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to Abia State Governor, Alex Otti. The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) convened an emergency meeting in Lagos to address what it termed a controversial move amid ongoing legal and leadership battles. Kwankwaso’s November 9 visit coincided with a ruling by an Abia State High Court, which directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to transfer NNPP’s administration to its Board of Trustees, chaired by Dr. Boniface Aniebonam. The NWC viewed this meeting as an attempt to exploit the legal development for personal advantage. The party’s leadership has been embroiled in a crisis, resulting in the expulsion of Kwankwaso, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, and other members of the Kwankwasiya group. The NWC dismissed their claims to any leadership roles within the NNPP, labeling such assertions as baseless and aimed at disrupting the party’s unity. Governor Otti was advised to distance himself from NNPP’s internal disputes to avoid potential political fallout ahead of the 2027 elections. The NWC also alleged that Kwankwaso had been a destabilizing force since joining the party, accusing him of trying to take control of its structures for personal benefit.
Enemies Of Kano Distracted Gov Yusuf For One Year – Kwankwaso

Leader of Kwankwasiyya movement and the Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has accused the opposition in Kano of distracting government for one year. Kwankwaso reacted to the development during the occasion of the declaration of the State of Emergency on education in Kano State. He said, “Let me start by congratulating him on this historic day, the day the governor is declaring a State of Emergency on education. For those who are aware that the governor has been working from day one you can see his footprints everywhere across the state. “Despite the fact that the governor was distracted for about one year. Immediately after election, enemies of the State took him to Court – Tribunal, Appeal Court to Supreme Court. We have seen what happened even when they knew that there is no need to go to any Court or tribunal. Everybody knew that he won his election. “Even the enemies were saying that they wanted to take it by force because they believe they have a government. Despite all that, the governor has been working and obstacles after obstacles, we don’t know what is happening and what has happened in this state but the governor is moving. “In fact that reminds me of our situation during my second term when two months after my swearing in as governor, we had Boko Haram attacks in mosques, attacks in markets, police stations, schools and everywhere we were focused and ensured that we were not distracted.”
Kwankwaso Eyeing Governorship Seat for His Son – Political Scholar Alleges

A political scholar in Kano state has raised concerns over former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso’s alleged plans to pave the way for his son to become the next governor in 2031. Speaking some journalists, the scholar highlighted Kwankwaso’s efforts to establish a political dynasty, citing the recent appointment of his son, Mustapha, as a commissioner by Governor Abba Yusuf. The scholar emphasized Kwankwaso’s significant influence in the current administration, from its conception to policy implementation, noting his close relation to the governor through marriage. Speculating on Mustapha’s political trajectory, the scholar suggested he could be groomed for governance and potentially succeed the current leadership or become a gubernatorial candidate’s running mate in the future. However, the scholar acknowledged the uncertainty of political outcomes, noting that unforeseen circumstances could alter these projections. His words: “We must not ignore the fact that this is the early days in an attempt to control power by a single family or associates of the same political group. “It is an open secret that Kwankwaso is very influential in the present administration. He has been pivotal to its conception, electoral victory, appointments, policy selection and policy implementation. “It is also incontestable that Kwankwaso is closely related to the state governor by marriage. The governor is his in-law. The political permutation is that Mustapha will be nursed in the act of governance and will come of age by 2031. By this time, he will be 47. “With the Kwankwaso that we know, chances are high that he will ensure that Mustapha, his son, succeeds the present arrangement or becomes the running mate to the governorship candidate of the party in the general elections. “Should that happen, it means that the governance of the state would have resided within the same clan or family for about 16 years or more, and will remain there for a longer time, depending on how Mustapha plays his cards in the years to come. “But, like I said, these are all potential possibilities. They are not yet realities. The future, especially in politics, is often bounded by uncertainties. Anything can still happen to change these calculations.” Mustapha Kwankwaso, born on March 24, 1984, in Kwankwaso village, completed his education in Cyprus before entering the political arena.
Finally, NNPP expels Rabiu Kwankwaso

The National Executive Committee of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has expelled Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, following his alleged refusal to appear before the party’s Disciplinary Committee. Kwankwaso, the 2023 Presidential Candidate of NNPP, had been earlier suspended by the party’s leadership at the National Convention on August 29 in Lagos. Recall also that the National Executive Council (NEC) of the NNPP set up a Disciplinary Committee and directed it to invite Kwankwaso to defend allegations of gross anti party activities and mismanagement of party/campaign funds within five days. The NEC had warned that, failure to appear before the Disciplinary Committee, Kwankwaso would be expelled from the party in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution 2022 (as amended). Consequently, Mr Abdulsalam Abdulrasaq, the Acting National Publicity Secretary of NNPP, said in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos, that the NEC had expelled Kwankwaso with immediate effect because of his refusal to honour the committee’s invitations. Abdulrasaq said: “The NEC met in an emergency session on Friday, Sept 1. and resolved as follows: “Following the refusal of Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to appear before the disciplinary committee which sat on Thursday, August 31 after being duly invited in writing, he is hereby expelled from NNPP with immediate effect. “That the erstwhile presidential candidate, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso will be reported to appropriate quarters to answer questions on financial impropriety relating to mismanagement of public funds.” The crisis within the NNPP started when the NWC of the party loyal to Kwankwaso, announced the suspension of the NNPP founder, Dr Boniface Aniebonam and the National Publicity Secretary, Dr Agbo Major on August 24.
