Beware of German-based Human Trafficking Syndicate

Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities, students, guardians and members of the unsuspecting public have been warned to beware of a German-based human trafficking syndicate that is operating under the guise of offering internship opportunities to lure the youth into a human trafficking net in Europe. In a circular, the National Universities Commission (NUC) today, drew the attention of Vice Chancellors to the existence of the syndicate which is based in Germany and specializes in luring unsuspecting students from third world countries to Germany and other European countries under the guise of offering them internship opportunities in industries and allied institutions. In a circular, which was signed by Mr. John Mairafi Ahmadu, a director in the Executive Secretary’s office at the NUC, the existence of the syndicate was busted by a careful investigation by Indonesian Police. It was stated in the circular that the discovery by the Indonesian police was shared with the Office of the Secretary General of the Federation (OSGF) which communicated the development to the NUC with the clear instruction that the development should be brought to the attention of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian universities for escalation to the Nigerian public.

Hailing from Hamburg, Brehme earned 86 caps for the German national team throughout his illustrious career. His memorable penalty kick in the 1990 final in Rome, which secured victory over Diego Maradona’s Argentina, propelled Germany to its third World Cup title. Despite experiencing heartbreak in the 1986 final against Argentina, Brehme’s contributions to German football were undeniable. He achieved success at the club level as well, notably winning the Serie A with Inter Milan in 1989 and the UEFA Cup in 1991. Brehme’s accolades extended to the Bundesliga, where he clinched titles with both Bayern Munich and Kaiserslautern. Following his playing career, he transitioned into coaching roles at various clubs, including Kaiserslautern and Unterhaching. Insecurity: Akpabio Begs Germany To Halt Deportation Of 12,000 Nigerians

President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has appealed to the German government to reconsider its decision to deport approximately 12,000 illegal migrants to Nigeria.  The Senator expressed concern that such a move could exacerbate existing security challenges in the country. During a courtesy visit by the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Annette Gunther, Senator Akpabio emphasized the need for collaboration between Nigeria and Germany, citing the countries’ significant roles in their respective continents. “Nigeria is Germany’s second largest trading partner in sub-Saharan Africa,” said Ambassador Gunther, highlighting the economic ties between the two nations. Senator Akpabio underscored Nigeria’s current struggle with insecurity and called for a joint effort with Germany in areas such as security and power to foster socio-political development. Expressing concern about the potential security implications, the Senate President urged Germany to reconsider the deportation, stating, “Dumping 12,000 illegal immigrants in Nigeria would lead to the escalation of insecurity in the country.” Akpabio also called for Germany’s assistance in distinguishing genuine Nigerian immigrants among the group, given the challenges posed by individuals falsely claiming Nigerian identity due to crises in other African countries.
