The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old suspect, Idrisu Musa, in connection with the alleged murder of his elder brother, Muhammed Haruna, and the deceased’s wife, Habiba Muhammed, in Jega Local Government Area of the state.

Confirming the incident in a statement issued on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the attack occurred in the early hours of May 9 at Asarara Village in Kimba District.

According to the police spokesman, the victims were attacked with a cutlass while they were asleep at about 5:15 a.m. He stated that the couple sustained severe injuries during the assault and later died.

Usman disclosed that investigators recovered substantial evidence allegedly linking the suspect to the crime.

He further revealed that Idrisu Musa had reportedly threatened the couple with a cutlass on several occasions before the incident.

The spokesperson added that the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, Umar Hadejia, had directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a detailed investigation.

He assured residents that the police would ensure diligent prosecution of the case and that justice would be served.
